President Bush waded into the sub-prime lending mess today and offered to help struggling mortgage holders. Among the ideas the president put forth was a proposal to modernize the Federal Housing Administration. The markets reacted favorably to the comments from the president and a hint also from Federal Reserve Chair-man Ben Bernanke today that the Central Bank might take steps to help lenders.
