An anonymous person in a chatter chamber said, "I believe in serendipity, karma, and hubris. To paraphrase Paulo Coeho, when we want something deeply enough, the universe conspires to give it to us. However, also I think it’s important not to bank on conspiring forces of the universe to make things happen for us. I think if we work hard and behave honorably, good things will come our way."
Do you agree or disagree with the above quotation? Do you agree or disagree with this point of view? Write an essay of about 400 words entitled:
Hard Work or Good Luck?
In the first part of your writing you should state your main argument, and in the second part you should support your argument with appropriate details (or examples). In the last part you should bring what you have written to a natural conclusion or make a summary.

Hard Work or Good Luck?
People generally believe, "No pains, no gains." But we have heard so much in actual life about pains without gains. These somewhat discouraging and sad experiences unmistakably prove such a fact that success without some luck is almost impossible. The French emperor Napoleon said of one of his generals, "I know he’s good. But is he lucky?" Napoleon knew that all the hard work and talent in the world cannot make up for bad luck. As far as I am concerned, therefore, good luck is what we need and long for as we are working hard to invite it.
When it comes to success, luck can mean being in the right place to meet the right person, or having the right skills to get a job done. It might mean turning down an offer and having a better offer come along. Admittedly, nothing can replace hard work, but does working hard, to some extent, also mean you are preparing yourself for opportunity? In turn, does opportunity very often depend on luck?
How many of the great inventions and discoveries came about through a lucky mistake or a lucky choice? One of the biggest lucky mistakes in history is Columbus’s so-called discovery pf America. He enriched his sponsors and changed the course of history, but he was really looking for India not America. Admittedly, Columbus’ chance discovery was not pure luck. It was backed up by years of studying and calculating. He worked hard to prove his theory that the world was round and eventually got repaid.
Success that comes from pure luck and no hard work can be a real problem. For example, consider a teenage girl who becomes a movie star. Imagine she has been picked from nowhere because of her looks. She is going to feel very insecure, because she knows she did nothing to earn her stardom. On the other hand, think about an actress who has spent years learning and working at her craft. When she finally has good luck and becomes a success, she will handle her stardom, for she knows she earned it.
Good luck is always trying to find the best prepared. The surest way to grasp opportunity and make our own luck is to be ready when opportunity knocks. As we work hard toward our goal, do not refuse good luck when it visits us, for I believe success comes from nowhere but where hard work and luck go hand in hand.
