答案    Since the Chinese gold medalists flew back with great honours from the Athens Olympic Games, the whole of China has been permeated with a festival atmosphere. Hailed as the heroes of our nation, the Olympic champions have been awarded a large sum of money for the contribution they have made to their motherland. Meanwhile some of them are now preoccupied with various publicity campaigns sponsored by big names in the business world, who are smart enough to draw on the public attention given to the athletes by the media. These have given rise to a widespread viewpoint that too much money and public attention would spoil these athletes.
As the government has already rewarded the gold medal winners for the painstaking efforts they have made in order to win the championship, it is irrational for them to put in a token appearance on too many business occasions just to pocket more money. Even today, several months after the Athens event, some successful sports people may still be found at, for instance, a news conference for the launch of a new product or a programme of entertainment sponsored by a famous multinational company operating in China. Their money- motivated presence at these events is no doubt a blasphemy against sportsmanship. This has actually given rise to a widespread belief that they are engaged in sports for the sole purpose of making more money.
In addition, the news media are harming some of the famous athletes in that the former are taking up too much of the time of the latter, which should be spent in their regular training. A household name in China because of the attention given by the media, Lin Xiang, China’s 110-metre hurdles gold medallist at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, complained in a recent TV interview that he was tired out because he had too many requests for interview to comply with. As a result, his performance in several recent international sports games has been rather disappointing. Some even doubt that he will be able to live up to the expectations of the Chinese people at the coming 2008 Olympic games.
In a word, it is now high time that our athletes concentrated on their regular training instead of being distracted by the financial temptation and that the media took into consideration an athlete’s plan for training if there is a real need to interview him.

(These have given rise to a widespread viewpoint that too much money and public attention would spoil these athletes.)。
(Their money-motivated presence at these occasions is no doubt a blasphemy against sportsmanship.),这句话是本段的点睛之笔,与引言部分spoil these athletes相吻合。
