practical benefits in an increasingly globalized world. Being
bilingual makes you smarter. It can have a profound effect on your
brain, improve your cognitive skills and even shielding against 【M1】______

Bilinguals have to switch languages quite often. It requires keeping
track of changes around in the same way that we monitor our
surroundings when driving. The bilingual experience appears to
influence the brain from infancy to old age and there is reason to

Bilingualism’s effects also extend into the twilight years.
