There’s been a lot of talk【C1】______about who should go to college and who should not. And the【C2】______that have guided this talk have mainly been【C3】______Is college a good investment? Does it【C4】______a guy who is probably going to become a car【C5】______to spend $20,000 to $30,000 going to a junior college for a【C6】______years? He’s probably going to leave with a pile of【C7】______that will take him years to【C8】______What’s more, the current thinking goes, he didn’t need that【C9】______degree to end up【C10】______his job in the garage. The【C11】______here is that paying for college is like putting money into a set of stocks or a【C12】______fund. It’s an investment. If the money spent on college doesn’t【C13】______an actual cash advantage, then you’ve made a mistake. If you end up not【C14】______a college degree to pursue your professional life【C15】______then school was more than a strategic mistake: it was a complete waste.
All of this may be true, but it’s true only for those students who【C16】______at college without the【C17】______Bruce Springsteen sings about: a【C18】______heart. For kids who aren’t curious,【C19】______and hungry to learn, going to college and then moving on to a job they could have had anyway is no doubt ill advised.【C20】______that’s not everyone. There are plenty of young people out there who will end up in jobs that don’t demand college degrees: yet college is still right for them. [br] 【C8】
选项
A、work out
B、work against
C、work on
D、work off
答案
D
解析
动词词组辨析题。work out意为“想出,制订出”;work against意为“阻挠”;work on意为“继续工作”;work off意为“(通过工作)消除”。句意为“接受大学教育欠的债要经过好些年工作才能还清”,故D为正确答案。
