A bus carrying a wedding party fell into a mountain gorge in northern India on Tuesday, killing 37 people and injuring 20 others, a senior official in the area said.
   The vehicle swerved to avoid another bus coming from the opposite direction, and plunged i50 feet into the gorge in the Rupdraprayag district of Uttranchal Pradesh state, said District Magistrate Y. D. Chaubey.
   The bus was carrying members of a wedding party, Chaubey said. The groom was traveling in a separate car, he added.
   Chaubey said 20 others injured in the accident had been hospitalized. Further details were not immediately available
   Buses and trucks are the main means of transportation in much of rural India. Hundreds of road accidents take place each year, with most blamed on reckless driving and overcrowding.
