The European Commission has issued a health warning about the potential risks of tattoos and body piercing. Research published by the commission in Brussels says that most chemicals used in tattoos are industrial pigments originally produced for other purposes, such as car paint. Officials warned of the risks of hepatitis, HIV or skin diseases. The EU is calling on national governments to increase monitoring.
