Egyptian police have broken up an anti-Israeli demonstration by Islamic fundamentalists in the center of Cairo. More than 20 people were arrested. Violence broke out after hundreds of people attending Friday prayers at the Arenas mosque took part in a protest calling for an end to the Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Jerusalem. Police dispersed the demonstrators, shutting some of them inside the mosque. They then surrounded the mosque but later allowed those inside to leave.
