If one rocket scientist’s observations are right, the fuzzy dots on a grainy black-and-white photo from Mars show the wreckage of a NASA probe which vanished in 1999, just before it was supposed to land on the red planet. After it disappeared, the Mars Polar Lander Mission was declared a 165,000,000 dollar failure. A NASA team concluded an engine probably shut off early, causing the spacecraft to free fall about 130 feet, causing almost certain destruction on the Martian surface.

   Some exports think the spots in this photo show the Polar Lander’s wreckage is pretty much intact 6 years after the accident. NASA’s calling the scientist’s new analysis intriguing.
