What comment did the Sudanese president make on the crisis in his country? [br]

Sudanese President Omar el-Bashir has charged that international pressure of the crisis in Sudan’s Darfur region is actually aimed at the status of Islam in the country. Sudanese media reported Saturday that President Bashir made the comment to supporters outside Khartoum after Friday prayers.  He’s quoted as saying his government will stick to the application of Islamic law or sharia. The international community has been increasing pressure on Sudan to disarm pro- government Arab militias accused of atrocities against black Sudanese in Darfur. The United Nations says the humanitarian situation there is the world’s worst.
