The US ambassador to Saudi Arabia says the gunmen who attacked the US consulate in Jeddah Monday knew the compound security procedures. Ambassador James Oberwetter said the attack shows the need to tighten security even further. He praised the Saudi and US Marine security officers for stopping the attackers before they could break into the consulate proper. Five consulate’s staffers and four attackers were killed.
