    Technological advances have had tremendous impacts on our ways of communication. But there is now a debate over whether this impact is positive or negative. In my view, the technological boons are undermining human relationships.
    For one thing, while we can communicate faster and more conveniently, in-depth communication is fading away from our daily life. We are more accustomed to grabbing the phone for a one-minute talk instead of a letter filled with love, care and deep thoughts or a face-to-face communication in a coffee bar for a whole afternoon. For another, fancy technological products are depriving families of their time spent together. The chit-chat, story-telling, singing and dancing, and exchanging of thoughts and warm words,which once featured a family have been displaced in this society by TV programs and computer games. In addition,we do not bother to see each other,since ve can talk on the phone or via the Internet. Gradually .friends are becoming talk-on-the-phone acquaintances.
    For all that is mentioned above, I doubt whether modern technology really contributes to human relationships. On the contrary, I believe it is molding a time when people shield themselves in tall buildings and are only familiar with their friends’ voices.
