For the second and third readings, the passage will be read sentence by sentence, or phrase by phrase, with intervals of 15 seconds. The last reading will be done at normal speed again and during this time you should check your work. You will then be given 1 minute to check through your work once more.

Ireland has a proud tradition of producing good quality food. / But like many developed countries, it’s also battling obesity. / Nearly 40% of adults here are overweight. / On Wednesday the country’s health minister / backed a report calling for calorie labeling, / which would mean that Irish restaurants and fast food outlets / would have to show exactly how many calories / are in the dishes that they serve./ The health minister said the country’s food businesses / have six months to introduce calorie menu labeling, / or else face the possible introduction of a compulsory scheme. /
