M: Hello, Mrs. Parker! We’re excited to have you here on "Success Stories". Welcome.
W: Thank you. I’m really honoured to be here. I’ve never thought about my story being exciting enough to be told on the radio! It just seemed to me to be the normal progression of things, and kind of boring.
M: It isn’t boring. It’s exciting and inspirational. First of all, what does your company sell?
W: We sell art equipment. About ten years ago I was an artist. I loved what I did, but I was never satisfied with the equipment I had. It seemed to me that there was nothing out there that was both affordable and high-quality. Anyway, one day I was talking to my friend, Jill, who worked building fire trucks. We got to talking about art equipment and he told me that if I designed some things, he would help me build them.
M: Amazing! What happened next? Did you have difficulty designing new products?
W: Not at all. My father is an engineer and I think I have some of those genes. I knew what I wanted and I could use any material I wanted to make them. It was a lot of fun.
M: Was it easy to get your ideas from paper to reality?
W: Not at all. It was hard for me to explain what I wanted and we tried many times with each piece of equipment before we got it right. But in the end, we succeeded. That was how Mirrix Company was born!
