Each item will be read only once.

During the pause, read the question and the four choices marked A, B, C and D, and decide which is the best answer.
Then mark the corresponding letter on the answer sheet with a single line through the centre.
16. The military in Pakistan says its troops have killed 36 suspected militants in two separate operations in the northwestern part of the country. Pakistan’s private military forces said 33 rebels were killed in the Khyber tribal area. The military said troops also destroyed two rebel training centers, fifteen militant homes and at least six vehicles.
17. Rescuers are searching the waters near the southern Philippine coast, where a passenger boat sank. They are looking for about 50 people who are still missing after the captain ordered everyone off the ship. 18. Officials say Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has left a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Mr. Saleh was being treated for bums he suffered in a June 3rd bomb attack on his home near Sanaa. Both Yemeni and Saudi officials say Mr. Saleh left the hospital last Saturday and moved to a Saudi government house for further recovery. There was no word on when he will return to Yemen. Mr. Saleh has refused to resign even after six months of nationwide protests against his thirty-three-year rule. His deputy has been running the country.
19. People always look in the mirror before leaving for work and feel discouraged before stepping out of the door. A new mirror from IKEA aims to nip those selfesteem issues in the bud. The “Motivational Mirror”, created by a Swedish furniture retailer, pays compliments to the person standing in front of it. The experimental product was launched in a trial at an IKEA store in London this month.
20. Cambridge graduates are the most employable in the world, according to a global league table.
