答案     Since the reform and opening in 1978, great changes have taken place in China. The Chinese people are becoming richer and richer, creating unprecedented material wealth. Some people are convinced that great possession of material wealth is a sign of success. In my opinion, material wealth cannot be considered as a sign of success.
    There is a more important standard of success. That is the contribution to the people, to the society and even to the whole human beings. People of this kind are really successful, though they are not so wealthy in material. Scientists in various fields are not wealthy either, yet they are honored the Nobel Prizes and are thought highly of by the common people, and the value of their inventions cannot be measured by any limited material wealth.
    If material wealth is considered as a sign of success, people will neglect the spiritual side of life by faithfully pursuing the material wealth. In that case, the whole world will be only material-orientated, and finally the world will only be a cashbox without friendship, love or vitality.
    Because it’s too limited and too parochial, material wealth is only a tiny part of success but not a sign of success.
