答案                                   Evaluation by Students
Nowadays, a growing number of universities have launched the "Student Evaluation Project", in which students are invited to evaluate the job performance of their teachers. In most cases, students get evaluation forms at the end of a semester and are asked to fill them out anonymously.
There are varied opinions among teachers and university authorities about this educational reform program. University administrators consider student evaluation to be an effective means to discipline teachers and help enhance the teaching quality. However, many teachers feel uncomfortable, even resentful about it, because different students may have different standards by which to judge their teachers. In their opinion, the evaluation results may be influenced by individual student’s personal feelings and therefore can’t be counted on as an objective reflection of the teaching performance. As for students, their attitudes are also varied: some like to be given a voice to express their views, some don’t understand it, while some simply don’t care.
As a whole, Student Evaluation Project took a bold step in the university education reform process, which encourages students to get more actively involved in the class teaching, thus positively creating an interactive academic atmosphere. Nevertheless, many, other problems may arise correspondingly. For instance, some students may be too critical about a certain professor just because the professor is not fun or he is too strict, which might have a negative impact on the impartiality of evaluation itself, misleading the reform orientation.
