M: Mum!
W: Yes? What’s the matter?
M: I’m wondering if I should buy a pair of tennis shoes. I’m going to join the tennis club in school.
W: Why not? It’s good that you finally play sports.
M: But I’d like to have Adidas.
W: Adidas? It’s expensive. It’s for the Chicago Bulls!
M: No. All the guys in the school tennis team are wearing Adidas, boys, as well as girls. Here, Mum, is an ad about Adidas. Can I read it to you?
W: Go ahead.
M: "Over forty years ago, Adidas gave birth to a new idea in sports shoes. And the people who wear our shoes have been running and winning ever since. In fact, Adidas has helped them set over 400 world records in track and field alone."
W: Nonsense! The players have to go through a lot of hard training and practice. It’s nothing to do with the shoes. They may be comfortable, but...
M: You’re right, Mum. The ad goes on to say "You are born to run. And we were born to HELP YOU DO IT BETTER."
W: Hmm. It may be good for running, but you don’t run.
M: Listen, "Maybe that’s why more and more football, soccer, basketball and tennis...", see? "TENNIS players are turning to Adidas. They know that, whatever their game, they can rely on Adidas workmanship and quality in every product we make."
W: OK, OK, dear. I know Adidas is good. But how much is a pair of your sise?
M: You don’t have to worry about that, Mum. I’ve saved some money since last Christmas. I just want to hear your opinion.
W: That’s good. I have been wanting to have a pair of Adidas sneakers myself.
Questions 9 to 12 are based on the conversation you have just heard.

10. What does his mother think about Adidas shoes?
11. Why does his mother object to the boy’s idea of buying Adidas?
12. What is not true about the boy?
选项
A、She doesn’t think he will play sports for long.
B、She doesn’t think the shoes will help him in the game.
C、She doesn’t think he will run.
D、She thinks Adidas will cost her quite a lot of money.
答案
D
解析
选项中的she doesn’t think/thinks表明,本题与女士的观点看法有关。对话中男士介绍的是阿迪达斯鞋子的好处,而女士用It’s expensive.和But how much is a pair of your size?表现出对价格的关心,可见女士是担心阿迪达斯的鞋子太贵,故答案为D)。
