Good afternoon, everyone. Welcome to Edward House, one of the most popular accommodations in our university. As you know, the building was constructed in the middle of the 19th century and was used by the family of Edward. That’s of course how the house and university got their names. In 1994, the building was repaired and some modern facilities were added. Now, it has become a comfortable student accommodation which has a front hall, which you’re in now, a large garden, a dining room and a leisure room on the second floor and some bedrooms with their own bathrooms on the top floor.
When you receive your orientation pack, you will notice that there are two keys. One is your room key, the other is the key to the front hall. The door is closed and locked at 10 p. m. and open again at 7 a. m. the next morning. If you go out or come back at those times, please remember to take the key. You don’t need to pay any bills which are included in your accommodation fee. But if you want to use washing machines you have to pay a little fee. We offer two coin-operated washing machines on the second floor. The large one is £2. 40 and the small one is £1. 80. There are some rules here at Edward House. For example, students cannot use washing machines after 11 o’clock in the evening. Because we ask all students to keep quiet and do not make noise after 12 o’clock at night.
Questions 12 to 15 are based on the passage you have just heard.
    12. What do we know about the speaker?
    13. What was Edward House originally built as?
    14. What is NOT provided in Edward House?
    15. What do we learn about the house rules?
