W: [20]Well, when I first started college, I wanted to major in French but I realized I might have a hard time finding a job using the language, so I changed my major to computer science. With the right skills, landing a job in the computer industry shouldn’t be as difficult.
M: So, do you have a part-time job to support yourself through school?
W: [21]Well, fortunately, I received a four-year academic scholarship that pays for all of my tuition and books.
M: Wow. That’s great!
W: Yeah. How about you? Are you working your way through school?
M: Yeah. [22]I work three times a week at a restaurant near campus.
W: Oh. What do you do there?
M: I’m a cook.
W: How do you like-your job?
M: It’s okay. The other workers are friendly, and the pay isn’t bad.

W: Hello. May I speak to Mr. Josh Cooke, please?
M: Speaking.
W: This is Rebecca Carter of Yours Magazine.
M: What can I do for you, Miss Carter?
W: [23]There’ll be an issue next month introducing your newly published book Where the Road Ends, and I’d like to have an interview with you, if possible.
M: An interview? I’d like to, Miss Carter, but I’m afraid my schedule is all full. I can’t spare the time.
W: It won’t take you long, Mr. Josh. Two hours or less will do.
M: Well, when?
W: When is convenient for you?
M: Hold on, please. Let me check my schedule... Say, [24]how about this Friday morning? Around 10 o’clock?
W: Why don’t we meet at Ih00 and have a talk over lunch? I know a very nice place downtown.
M: Sounds nice. All right.
W: Shall I pick you up at your place?
M: No, no. [25]If we’re going downtown, you don’t have to pick me up. Let’s just meet at the restaurant. Where is it?
