答案                     On Predecessors’ Experience
    As is vividly illustrated in the cartoon, a man has fallen into a well pit, while another man is still following his path hastily and cheerfully. Many people doubt whether the roads which our predecessors walk are correct or not. The central point of this cartoon is that we should hold a right attitude towards the pioneers’ experience.
    Some persons believe that the experience which our predecessors have left is wholly right, but I do not totally agree. On the one hand, experience accumulated by great persons can guide the direction for us and the general rule of thumb does often save time and money. On the other hand, the predecessors’ experience is not correct all the time; sometimes it will lead us to the blind area. We should learn the lesson and accumulate experience by ourselves.
    I maintain again that we should have a rational opinion of previous generation’s experience. Experience accumulated by great persons can guide us. Meanwhile we must learn to be flexible and innovative. Then we could make better use of the existing experience and continue to move forward.
