   Nowadays, abbreviation has enjoyed increasing popularity among young people while some old people complain that our language has been ruined by abbreviation.
   People in favor of abbreviation hold that it makes communication quicker and simpler, and many people think that is very cool. However, others point out that the demerits of abbreviation are also obvious. Firstly, it deepens the generation gap between the old and the young. Moreover, abbreviation is prone to cause misunderstanding since one abbreviation could have several different interpretations. In my opinion, as a coin with two sides, abbreviation has both positive and negative effects on our communication and we should use abbreviation rationally and try our best to popularize it.
   To conclude, when enjoying the convenience of abbreviation, we should bear it in mind that we are supposed to use abbreviation rationally and appropriately in our communication.
