During my journey to my hometown last autumn, I happened to have a very delightful conversation on a train with a man named Smith who was a journalist of a daily newspaper. I can’t recall his last name, but he was around 35 years old.
I usually read books or listen to music on a long journey. That day I was reading, a book by Dan Brown and the guy who sat next to me asked me about the book. This was how the conversation began. Our topics were mostly about writers. We also talked about the political conditions in our country, the role of an ideal leader, journalism, corruption and the major problems of our country. I rarely continue long conversations with strangers, but that talk I had on the train was pretty intriguing and it lasted for almost 3 hours.
This conversation was interesting for three reasons: Firstly, the person I had the conversation with was a kind and chatty man with good knowledge and experience. So, I did have a very pleasant talk. Secondly, I liked the way we interacted with each other. We did have some similar viewpoints, but we also made an effort to debate issues that we had different views on. Though the man was about 12 years older than me, he never showed any conceited manner. He treated me like an equally skilled opponent on many issues and listened to me very attentively. Finally, the place where the conversation took place was really unusual. I must say, I learned many things from this person that day.
