You may begin to prepare your response after the beep. Please begin your response after the beep.
Please Listen Carefully.
Now listen to a conversation between two students.
Bob Hi, Jane, how are you getting on these days?
Jane Hello, Bob. Just so so. I feel extremely stressed.
Bob [Sympathetically] Yeah? What’s wrong?
Jane Well, I think what we have learned so far in college is impractical and behind the rapid development of modern science and technology. So I’m confused and wondering whether I can get a job after I graduate.
Bob Yeah, that seems like a headache many youth face nowadays. Well, why not get an additional degree? I mean, you may ask people who hold a good job what degrees students should obtain so as to meet the needs of companies.
Jane Good idea. But you know, when we apply for a position, the companies are more concerned about work experience rather than diplomas and degrees. For instance, they will ask you, "Have you ever worked?" "Where?" "What did you do?" and "How long?"
Bob Yes, that was the second point I was going to suggest. Maybe you can find a part-time job.
Jane Uh-huh.
Bob Well, I mean part-time jobs can enhance young people’s social development. Moreover, it can cultivate a sense of competition, which is very important in the future workplace. Er...this experience gives students an insight into what work is about and helps them prepare psychologically.
Jane Yeah, that might work. Thanks.

Clothes are in some way a reflection of what we feel. It’s a sign of our characteristics behind what we wear which is trying to express something we may not even be aware of ourselves. With the development of psychology and advertisement, people are paying more and more attention to demonstrating their characteristics and personalities. They try to choose the novel thing whenever they buy products or do other things to show that they are special, creative, and able to make innovation and lead colorful lives. Therefore, it is really a matter of individual taste.
Furthermore, clothes carry a kind of message for a person. For instance, people who are sociable and outgoing tend to dress in an extrovert way, preferring brighter or more dazzling colors—yellow, white, blue and so on. Whereas, people who are introvert tend to wear quiet and simple colors. In sum, clothes are really a matter of individual taste but also a symbol of a person.
