Legendary Personal Brand
I was told by my friend Christopher Lochhead, co-founder of Play Bigger and fellow Smashmouth marketer, " The E in CEO stands for Evangelist. " The comment hit me as a universal truth. So typical of Christopher’s personal brand.
Leaders lead by sharing their dreams and passions. People listen because they believe in them and in the brand. More importantly, they believe because the Evangelist delivers their story in a compelling manner.
Play Bigger helps great technology companies define and dominate their market categories, and Christopher’s personal brand is one of "legendary results. " His ability to stand confidently before a well funded start-up or a billion dollar company and having the executive team to embrace Play Bigger’s philosophy of building Point of View (POV), stems from years of stand-out execution.
This reminds me of David Ogilvy’s quote, "Don’t bunt. Aim out of the ball park. Aim for the company of immortals. " Being it in business or in your personal life, will establish a story impacting others. Those around you will absorb your drive and passion. Your POV is the story people share about you. Before someone buys your product, service, or wants to join your team, they buy your story.
But don’t tell your story until you know your brand. Examine your brand the same way you would for your company. Map it out; know what will make others embrace you. Create your own market segment and become the category king.
Don’t try to be something you’re not. Know your most outstanding attributes and play on them. You already have a story — expand on it. Treat your story like a poet does a great poem — refining each word until the words speak for themselves and can’t be refined further.
Ogilvy is one of Christopher’s business heroes, "One of the greatest things about Ogilvy was how high he set the bar for both the quality of work and the results the advertising had to deliver. "

选项 A、Doing business is like to play baseball.
B、You should go beyond the ball park.
C、Being far-sighted and broad-minded.
D、If you can play baseball you’ll absorb more business partners to join your team.

答案 C

解析 David Ogilvy的话前半部分从字面上看是在谈棒球,从“don’t bunt”可以看出其实在讲要目光长远,放眼公司的未来。A、B、D项都是从字面上来理解,只有C项才是其真实意思。
