  Students all over the world work hard in school terms. It is no wonder that we jump at the idea of holiday. Have you ever considered having one long vacation of three months? For me, it would be a terrific idea! I think one long vacation is much better than several short ones because it helps students with their study, their health as Well as their understanding of society.
  The first reason to account my preference of one long vacation is that it can broaden students’ learning. In the long vacation, we have a lot of time to study by ourselves and thus improve weaknesses and further develop strengths. As an English major, I have always wanted in read some masterpieces by Shakespeare, by Johnson and by Hemingway, but unfortunately, I can not find adequate time during the terms, and short vacations. I even dream of going to English-speaking countries to feel western cultures that can never be found in books. One long vacation provides the time and conveniences, but short vacations do nor.
  The second reason is that one long vacation can do more good to our physical and spiritual health than short ones. The exam-orientated education has driven some of us crazy. Thanks to the long holidays, students who study under great pressure can have this good opportunity to take a deep breath, get away from the heavy study-load and enjoy the flesh air. In addition, the long holidays also provide people with a golden chance in which they can get together with their family members, making up the relationship that may be neglected in those busy days. After a long relaxation, we will become more vigorous and do our work better.
  Furthermore, one long vacation serves better than short vacations to render students the opportunity to learn more about the society. During the long holiday, we can take part-time jobs with which we can earn money to buy something we long for and gain experience that is essential for the future work; we can help parents with the farm work to relieve their burden; we can travel around the country or the world to open up our eye reach; or we can simply indulge ourselves in the world of books. The holiday experience makes us more mature and appreciate our schooling better.
  It must be realized that if the long vacation is not properly managed, it probably is a waste of time for some students. But considering the benefits, I strongly suggest that we should be given one long vacation, as long as we better plan it in order to make use of it in a healthy way to the fullest.
