答案     Of course I agree that it is more important to travel than read books. As this is the only way that you can really get to know people from different parts of the world. A book about another country tells you about things such as the country’s history, its people, and its culture in a very general way. However, when it comes to discussing people I have found that books cannot be trusted. For example, before traveling to China, I had read that the Chinese people were rigid, uneducated, and had no sense of humor, and they all wore blue suits. Well, being so prepared by these books I was shocked to find that these facts were not facts at all. Actually, I found the Chinese people to be open, intelligent, and to have an equally strong sense of humor than anyone I know. Also, you know what else I found out, that the Chinese were just as crazy about fashion as we are.
Reading a book about another country sparks my interest to travel there. I don’t put the book down and do nothing about it. I make plans to go and see what I have read about. Ask yourself, if you buy a recipe book, are you going to just look at the pictures, and read about how the desserts are made. No, you want to eat that dessert that you have read about. Books generate desire and arouse our interest in things, but it is only by our actions that we can satisfy these desires, and pursue our interests.
People who only read, usually do very little in life. People who go out and experience things first hand, tend to be the kind of people who are go getters, and are really interested in making things happen. A friend of mine, Jordan, went to Africa and experienced the sufferings of the children there first hand. This had a great impact upon him. In fact, when he returned he began a "save the children foundation". Just reading about these children cannot have the same impact as seeing them in person. Reading can only tell us so much. It is only by "getting into action" that one can make a mark in this world, and truly live a meaningful life.
