问题     Due to the soaring living cost in China, young lovers now are opting for naked marriages—those without the once-required trappings of an apartment, a car, wedding rings and a luxurious ceremony. Some people think that naked marriages should not be encouraged, as the material foundation is not solid enough; while others hold the opposing view simply for the reason that naked marriages show that love, above anything else, is what really matters. What is your opinion? Do you encourage naked marriage among Chinese youngsters? Write an essay of about 400 words. You should supply an appropriate title for your essay.

答案             Naked Marriage: Stripping Away the Material Protection?
The second decade of the 21st century witnesses a marriage boom of the post-80s as they have gradually reached marriageable age. As a houseless and carless generation, more and more youngsters are inclined to choose a naked marriage. Naked marriage does exist for a reason nowadays, but I don’t think it should be encouraged among Chinese youngsters.
First of all, a marriage without necessary provisions would drag the whole family into bitter suffering. To get married is more than an act of tying the knot; it’s the formation of a new family. There is an interesting notion that compares the trappings of a marriage to clothing: "an apartment is the clothes we wear; a car is a pair of trendy shoes while wedding rings and a luxurious ceremony are respectively a hat and a scarf. The latter three can be done away with, but we should at least have a stitch to our backs." Without the basic food and housing, a straggling family would be wrecked, especially with the birth of a baby. A mature marriage, therefore, should be built on a certain material foundation, upon which an emotional bond can be better strengthened.
Secondly, huge pressure from life might induce the collapse of a marriage. As is maintained by Dr. Joyce Brothers, an American psychologist, "Marriage is not just spiritual communion and passionate embraces; marriage is also three meals a day, sharing the workload and remembering to carry out the trash." Couples who cannot afford an apartment of their own often have to cram into one house with the husband’s parents. Weighing on their shoulders are the inevitable conflicts between two generations, which might aggravate the daily stress of household trifles. Moreover, couples of naked marriage also have to face the peer pressure. As is known, young people now are apt to focus more attention on the possessions and compare with each other. Peer pressure might make them feel frustrated and might even lead to the breakdown of a marriage.
Finally, when naked marriage has become a fashion trend, it is worried that young people would choose naked marriage, just to follow suit regardless of their own financial status. Naked marriage might also serve as an excuse for the men who lack ambition and motivation to escape from their responsibilities of bringing home the bacon.
To make it simple, it is wrong to marry for money, but unwise to marry without money. I hope that naked marriage should be the last but not first choice.
