Mike Tyson was put in prison last August because he
Mike Tyson could sign a deal by Friday to face either Germany’s Axel Schulz or Denmark’s Brian Neilsen here on August 21 in the heavyweight’s first fight since his release from jail. The former world heavyweight champion was released on Monday after four months behind bars for assault in the wake of a traffic accident last August. His deal with Showtime makes an August comeback likely. "August 21 is certainly a date we’re looking at," Showtime’s boxing director Jay Larkin said. "Hopefully in the next few days we will have something concrete." Nevada boxing officials revoked Tyson’s license for more than a year after he bit Evanda Holyfield’s ear in June of 1997. But they plan no action on Tyson because the license they granted him to fight does not expire until the end of the year. That came before the assault charges had been heard and with the victim’s support.
