   Write on ANSWER SHEET TWO a composition of ’about 200 words on the following topic:
                                       How to Improve Communication Effectiveness
   You are to write in three parts.
   In the first part, state specifically what your idea is.
   In the second part, provide one or two reasons to support your idea or describe your idea.
   In the last part, bring what you have written to a natural conclusion or a summary.
   Marks will be awarded for content, organization, grammar and appropriateness. Failure to follow the instructions may result in a loss of marks.

     Nowadays, people are increasingly aware of the importance of communication. The purpose of good communication is to get access to useful information in every respect and to transmit a thought or idea, which is expected to be understood by the receiver exactly the same way as it was envisioned by the sender. It has become a vital ability you need to learn in order to achieve your study goals and work objectives.
     To improve communication effectiveness, first of all, you need to be a good listener. We get things wrong because we haven’t quite understood what someone meant when they were talking to us. Don’t allow your mind to wander onto something else. You need to listen attentively and actively. Active listening requires you to understand the communication from the speakers’ point of view. Equally importantly you should put yourself in other persons’ place, both intellectually and emotionally. It will help you understand what they are getting at and form a response. Since language can be a barrier, you should also choose words and structure your messages in ways that will make them clear and understandable.
   These are only a few of the techniques you can learn to acquire to overcome the communication distortions and barriers. But I think the most important is your honesty and sincerity. If you are courteous enough and always willing to learn, you will gradually become good at communication.
