Taliban militants have claimed responsibility for separate attacks in Afghanistan. The Taliban said the suicide attack Wednesday in an American military base in eastern Khost Province was carried out by a man wearing clothes similar to those worn by the Afghan National Army. One Afghan and eight Americans were killed. The American victims are believed to include several members of the Central Intelligence Agency. Several others were reported wounded. In the second attack, a bomb killed four Canadian soldiers and a Canadian reporter traveling with them in southern Kandahar Province.
