Selfies Should Be Banned
The new trend about taking selfies is not only prevailed among the youth but other age groups as well globally. After most of the events, friends, co-workers, and participants take a mandatory selfie, hash tagging the event. However, beside the smiles, laughter and crazy faces found in most selfies, there is a darker side to the picture as well, which is also not too hidden from the world.
Incidents like shark attacks, falling off the edge of a cliff, train collisions, vehicle speeding and daredevil stunts caught on camera are some of the most critical moments when the person taking the selfie focuses on the environment more than anything else.
In an event, a 66-year-old Japanese tourist died falling down the staircase of Taj Mahal in India while attempting to take a selfie. A digital media website, Mashable reported a number of people severely injured in an attempt to take a selfie with an incoming train or getting atop dangerous equipment where a slip resulted in imminent death.
The Russian government has been promoting an anti-selfie campaign so the country residents act more responsibly by avoiding taking selfies in such situations despite the trend. Disney has also taken the step to promote anti-selfie campaigns on its rides and relatively dangerous areas of the theme park to ensure safety of the people.

答案 Should Selfies Be Banned?
Nowadays, people tend to take selfies to "live dangerously" and promote themselves amongst their peers and friends. As a result, there have been numerous cases in which people ended up being seriously injured or even being killed while trying to take a selfie in a dangerous situation. Therefore, the authorities such as the Russian government and Disney have started anti-selfie campaigns.
Should selfies be banned to ensure the safety of people? Or does such prohibition violate the principles of individual liberty? In my view, people should be advised not to take selfies in public since not everyone is lucky enough to survive the accidents. In the first place, while taking a selfie, people’s focus shifts from the world around them to taking a better picture of themselves, resulting in lesser time to respond to a natural stimulus of avoiding injury. In the second place, the youngsters enjoy taking photos with wildlife, but they may get attacked by these animals if they are getting too close. Last but not least, the peripherals of taking a selfie, such as a selfie stick, could be potential security threats to both tourists and scenic spots.
In conclusion, no-selfie zones should be set up in hazardous locations to prevent any similar tragedies from happening again. Regardless of how harmless this act may be, it is important for people to stay aware of their surroundings which could threaten their safety.
