Police in Australia are holding an eighth suspect in connection with the attempted car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow. Officials seized the 27-year-old Indian man at an airport in Brisbane late Monday. He reportedly was attempting to leave Australia. Intelligence provided by British officials led to the detention.

The education minister of Afghanistan says the government will never permit the Taliban to set up schools in southern Afghanistan. The minister says such schools would really be terrorist training centers. The Afghan official also says Taliban militants burned one hundred eighty-three schools in the past year.
