    When the reception day comes for college freshman we can see many parents taking countless luggages for their children, and some even buy lots of unnecessary articles for daily use. It is often said that the young generation (1) lacks independent spirit. As I see it. this phenomenon is truly (2) not rare in fact.
    There are reasons accounting for this phenomenon. (3) The foremost one is that born in the 1990’s, most of the new college students are the (4) only child in the family, receiving endless care from their parents, grandparents and even relatives. One of the consequences of this is that the young may lose the independent spirit. (5) What’s more, with parents undertaking the whole thing, many young people are easy to be tired with everything, when coming across with an (6) intractable problem, they may find it difficult to cope with on their own.
    (7) In my view, college students should form a good habit of independence, for they have to face the fierce competition and the great pressure in real life by themselves one day. Parents’ love and care cannot be with them forever. Besides, parents need to realize the importance of their children’s independence and give them more time and space to grow up.
