W: Good morning, Brenda Peters. You will be welcoming the new members to your job.
M: Good morning. (22)I have high expectations for my new colleagues. These guys will be fond of the work, I guess. I’m a good example of this and I’ve been a ski instructor for nearly three years.
W: Why have you chosen this career originally? That must be exciting.
M: After working in offices and restaurants I find this job very satisfying. After all, if you love the
outdoors, it’s a great job. You won’t get rich but you’ll get in great shape and you will be able to help people every day. (23)And for me the best part of the job is I’ve made a lot of friends through giving ski lessons.
W: Indeed, the job is fit for the people who love the outdoor life. I assume you have an even bigger role on the routine work.
M: (24)Of course my main responsibilities involve ensuring the safety of everyone who skis here. All trails have to be checked daily to make sure they are tidied as far as possible. I also have to be watching out constantly for people who aren’t skiing safely, or who may think they are better skiers than they really are. And to help those who are injured, I have to know basic first aid.
W: You will be a new trainer for your new employees soon. Are you proud of it?
M: (25)I pride myself on my ability to get people off the mountain quickly and safely. All in all, I think that being a ski instructor is a great job. I hope my new colleagues will all feel the same way.
