   In the cartoon, an employer expresses his pity to the young interviewee with a master’ s degree. Although the graduate has an impressive resume, he fails the interview, for his competitors are all Ph.D.s. The picture proves that nowadays interviewers place greater emphasis upon education background. I, however, assume that the ability of job applicants should gain more attention.
   There are three main reasons to support my view. First and foremost, education background is only a measure of one’s ability, and the cart should not be put before the horse. Besides, in the sole pursuit of high-level education, companies are likely to miss really talented people, who may drop out of school because of financial difficulties or other reasons. For example, Steven Jobs, a real innovator, did not finish his college but started Apple; Bill Gates, one of the richest men on the earth, quitted the university, too. One’s ability cannot be only measured by education background. Finally, most of the companies do not specialize in the cutting-edge science, hence, doctors will be a total waste there.
   In conclusion, I believe job applicants should not be evaluated only by their education background and the recruiters are supposed to appreciate the talents and abilities more.
