    Recent years have witnessed a steady increase in the popularity of some majors. Many students prefer to choose finance, accounting, computer, international trade and the like as their majors after passing the National College Entrance Examination.
    There are several reasons accounting for it. For one thing, it is generally accepted that a popular major may ensure a decent job in the fierce competition of job-hunting. For another, many students choose a major following the social stereotype or according to their parents’ wishes. However, too many students majoring in the same field will make it extremely hard for them to find a desirable job after graduation. Besides, it is a great pity that some students are unable to finish a degree as they have no interest in it at all.
    As far as I’m concerned, many a way can be adopted to solve this problem. Firstly, some consulting organizations can be set up to offer recommendations about how to choose an appropriate major to high school students and their parents. Secondly, a student should choose a major according to his own interest.
