    The above chart presents that national readership on the Internet has changed greatly from the year 2004 to 2014. As is indicated in the graph, the past ten years has witnessed a sharp increase in the percentage of Internet readership from 3. 7 percent to 44. 7 percent.
    To account for this phenomenon, two reasons are listed below. The first thing is the convenience of access to the Internet and the richness of Internet resources. With rapid development of technology, people nowadays can have access to the "enormous database" almost anytime and anywhere. What’s more, reading on the Internet costs less compared with traditional reading. Most of the electronic books can be read online for free or with just very low fee. On the contrary, the price of paper books remains high.     Certainly, such change will have some impacts on people. For one thing, as many people read on the Internet for entertainment or amusement, which is a kind of superficial reading, their imagination and creativity may be dampened in the long run. For another, as some information on the Internet is unhealthy or untrue, some people, especially the teenagers may be misled.
