The youngest, who was not the least ambitious, took no part in their argument. Before they left home, the father arranged for an adequate income to be provided for each of them but insisted that apart from this they were able to be financially self-supporting.

His twin brother considered himself unconventio nal and original. So, he became an artist. But he was not successful either.
Both the twin brothers earned little and so had to live mainly on their father’s support. The youngest son, who had no special artistic talent, worked hard and was awarded a university scholarship. After taking his degree, he was appointed to a teaching post in a grammar school, where he earned enough money to live on. He lived a happy life with his salary and his father’s allowance.
