Whether the eyes are "the windows of the soul" is true or not, it is a fact that they are especially important in interpersonal communication. Eye contact can mean different things in different cultures. In some Spanish-speaking countries, children show respect to an older person by not looking directly into the person’s eyes during a conversation (33).
