Advice to "sleep on it" could be well founded, scientists say. After a good night’s sleep, a problem that seemed insurmountable (不能克服的) the night before can often appear more【S1】______. although the evidence until now has been anecdotal (轶事的).
But researchers at the University of Luebek in Germany have designed an experiment that shows a good night’s sleep can【S2】______insight and problem-solving. Dr. Jan Born, a neuroscientist at the university, and his team taught volunteers two simple rules to help them【S3】______a string of numbers into a new order. There was also a third,【S4】______rule, which could help them increase their speed in solving the problem. The researchers divided the volunteers into two groups: half were allowed to sleep after the training while the【S5】______were forced to stay awake. They noticed that the group that had slept after the training were twice as【S6】______to figure out the third rule as the other group.
"You have a memory representation in your brain of the problem you want to solve, and then you sleep. Sleep can act on the problem," Born said in a telephone interview. But he also admitted that how restructuring of memories occurs or what governs it is still【S7】______.
Other scientists say the【S8】______evidence supports the anecdotal suggestions that sleep can stimulate creative thinking.
Although the role of sleep in human creativity will【S9】______be a mystery, the research gives people good reason to【S10】______respect their periods of sleep.
[A] hidden [F] manageable [K] unknown

[D] remainder [I] uninvented [N] improve
[E] strengthen [J] still [O] likely [br] 【S6】
选项
答案
O
解析
空前的were twice as表明,本空应填一形容词。由下句Born提到的睡眠能解决问题可推断,睡觉组应是更可能找出第三条规则,故答案为[O]likely“很可能的”。
