Many people believe the declining candidate number is not a bad thing, and it actually reflects students’ changed attitudes—they no longer cling to this examination for a better future. Moreover, it is good to relieve the employment pressure.
    However, there are different voices. Opponents believe that the declining exam candidate number is not necessarily a good tiling. Strictly speaking, the national college entrance examination remains the best way for students to stand out. One more thing which deserves consideration is that the dropping number of college entrance exam takers is not the radical solution to the problem of employment.
    To my mind, the drawbacks overweigh the advantages. Undoubtedly, the college entrance examination in China is still the principal approach for talent selection. The drop in candidate number will bring many negative impacts on the country’s future development other than guarantee less employment pressure. Consequently, the dropping number of college entrance exam takers is truly not a good thing.
