问题     William Faulkner of Oxford was not a native of Oxford; nor was he born with the name Faulkner. He was born in Albany, Mississippi, at the end of the 19th century, and the family spelled the name Falkner.

For many years the commonly accepted story was that it was a careless printer, in setting type for The Mar be Fun (1924). However, Faulkner’s biographer (传记作者) Carvel Collins said that the writer himself added it, and at least occasionally, as early as in 1918.
