Austin - August 8th. The Sixth Annual Harvey Live Music Festival will be starting on the grounds of the Dickerson Hall, Austin, Texas, on Monday, August 20th. Over the last five years they have seen more than 90 bands and artists on the stage, each bringing their own unique blend of musical entertainment.
This year organizers in Dickerson Hall expect a record number of attendees. Most performances scheduled for the four-day program have been sold out for weeks. They expect to raise over $200,000. The festival organizing committee has determined that a portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales will go to local and national charities ranging from the local playgroup to the national Steve Cancer Relief Fund.
The person with the most influence over the festival is Harvey Cole, who had the original idea back in 2005 and has continued, with the support of his family to make the event the leading music festival in the area.
One of the organizers, Jim Morris, said that many famous musicians around the world will be on the stage, and the festival will close with what is expected to be a memorable performance by Nat King, the famous pop singer.
To highlight this event, there will be an invitation-only banquet in the Pioneer Hotel on the second evening of the festival. On that occasion, special awards will be presented to Kevin Baker, Jae-soo Kim, and Takako Shimura.
