The company you work for is endeavoring to improve the management of the product lines.

A: The board of our company is not satisfied with the efficiency of the product lines. Let’s give some suggestions for improving the management of the product line.
B: Well, to improve the management of the product line, we must first figure out what problems there are with the current managerial system. From what aspects can we find the problems?
A: In my opinion, we should start from the three major aspects of the product line management, namely, progress, quality and cost control. Let’s try to decide if the quality can be further improved, or if the progress can be speeded up, or if the cost can be cut down.
B: Yes, I agree. The three aspects are also the most important aims of the product line management. But what standards should we set to make sure if the management is improved?
A: Well, the first and the most important standard should be about progress and quality. Introducing upgraded quality standards and progress billboards can be good ways to secure quality and progress.
B: Absolutely. And to meet the first standard, we should endeavor to establish a complete managerial system. In this way, the innovation we have made will achieve a long-term effect. What else can you think of?
A: For my part, human factor is also of great significance. So we should establish a training mechanism.
B: I can’t agree more. First, we should provide professional training for the operators to improve their skills and to enhance their cooperation ability. Next comes to the managers. A good manager is not only professional and experienced but also has outstanding organising and coordination ability. So capacity building of the manager is equally important.
A: Well, that’s the point! With all this, I’m sure we can do better in our effort to improve the management of the product lines!
