In this part of the test you are given a discussion topic. You have 30 seconds to look at the prompt card, an example of which is below, and then about 3 minutes to discuss the topic with your partner. After that the examiner will ask you more questions related to the topic.

You have been asked to help prepare a programme of activities for the delegation.
Discuss the situation together, and decide:
    What part of the company the delegation should visit
    Which company’s personnel the delegation should meet.

答案 A: I am honored to have this opportunity to work with you two. As is informed to us, before the delegation leaves, there are three topics to be discussed on the agenda. Now, let’s begin with the first one, that is, what sections of the company the delegation should visit.
B: I would suggest that they’d better take a look at their production line to make sure the products are produced with high efficiency and good quality. You know, the process sheets may reveal a lot of information. We need that to decide whether to conclude the business with them.
C: Yeah. We are interested in their most recently developed items. They can be very competitive in the market. We have to make sure the products go through strict checks and put quality of the article as the first consideration. People always say the quality is the soul of an enterprise, there is a good reason for it. Shall we move to the next subject? Namely, which company’s personnel the delegation should meet.
A: Definitely. In my point of view, they should ask for a meeting with the sales manager. Given the sound reputation of the two companies, I predict great possibilities for us to place an order. If that is the case, it is unavoidable to meet the sales manager to negotiate over the price.
B: I am really positive that the quotation they will be given can be very favourable. They won’t miss the opportunity to expand their business to Asian market and open up an outlet here. And we enjoyed a steady profit growth in recent years and deserve to be trusted. We may get their best offer.
C: Don’t be too optimistic. I am not so sure about that. Better be prepared for every possibility. We are supposed to get down to the facts, not fantasies.
A: Don’t worry. Our delegation members are all very experienced in negotiation. Now, it is time to talk about what kinds of activities should be arranged for the delegation. Personally, I don’t think it is a wise decision to prearrange it.
B: You have my vote on that. The other side may have their own arrangements. They may involve a city tour or some other entertainments. If they come up with something particular, we can ask our delegation to keep the headquarter posted.
C: With the updated reports of the delegation, I believe everything is going to be fine. I am confident that this trip of them can come to a successful conclusion.
