Part One. Questions 1 to 8.
For questions 1-8 you will hear eight short ecordings. For each question , mark one letter (A, B or C) for the correct answer.
After you have listened once, replay each recording.

One: Which products have sold best ?
[pause]
W: Now, let me turn to this month’s sales figures... they’re very mixed. Sales of fax machines are down again, but we’ve been doing quite well with answering machines. Mobile phones have been disappointing, though we’re hoping they may improve with the new model coming out next month.
[pause]
Two: In which month will the auditors come?
[pause]
W: The auditors have rung to ask which month you’d prefer them to come, April or May?
M: Why not May, like last year?
W: Somebody’s already booked them for then, I’m afraid.
M: April then. May’s much too busy.
[pause]
Three: Which chart shows foreign trade this year?
[pause]
W: ...and, although at present 25%of our trade is done abroad, this should increase by 10% next year. We plan to expand foreign trade to 50 % of our market within three years.
[pause]
Four: Which product does the man still needl
[pause]
M: It’s Derek Bond from Robinsons Ltd here. I’m phoning about my order for office equipment. I received the floppy disks last Monday, but the pens I ordered were missing, and they weren’t with the copying paper that arrived yesterday.
[pause]
Five: Which flight is the man going to take to Paris’!
[pause]
M: Are you going to the Paris conference tomorrow?
W: Yes, I’m leaving here straight after the meeting with Bob at a quarter past twelve. My plane leaves at half past two.
M: Um, I was going to get the one o’clock flight, but I think perhaps I should be at Bob’s meeting too. I’ll get the same flight as you then.
[pause]
Six: When are the two people going to meet?
[pause]
W: Hello, Edith Brown here, from Walkers. Could I make an appointment to see you on Thursday morning this week?
M: Morning’s not really possible, I’m afraid. What about the afternoon?
W: I’ve already got an appointment then. Is Friday possible?
M: Yes, that’s OK, but make it the morning rather than the afternoon.
[pause]
Seven: Which car park will close during repair work?
[pause]
M: You know next week the factory chimneys are going to be repaired?
W: Yes.
M: Well, we’ll have to close the car park underneath the chimneys.
W: OK. That’s the West Site car park... so West Site workers will have to use the East Site car park instead.
M: Yes, or the North Site, if that’s full.
[pause]
Eight: When will the red bikes sent?
[pause]
A: Good morning. Atlantic Bicycle.
B: This is Bill Watt from T & D Trading Company. I’m calling about the delivery of the order 3675. How soon can you deliver? I must have the order before the 16th July.
A: Order 3675. We will deliver the yellow models on the 14th, but about the red ones, we have to deliver on the 18th, because there’re some problems in our production department.
