   Having entered into a new century, and facing the quick development of economy and technology, many people feel more and more lost and confused about our society and life itself. We do not know what is wrong with the world, with so many terrorisms, wars, and violence crimes happening around us every day, in such a developed society. We feel that the so-called advancement only belongs to the materials of all Ends, but not to our spirit and morality. Social sciences and humanities are thrown away like waste because they are regarded as useless and out-of-date things. But I hold that social sciences and the humanities should play a more important role in the 21st century.
   The development of economy is surely very important for our society, but it will definitely be hindered without the guardian of social sciences and the humanities. In fact, economy is just like the legs of our society, without which the society will not advance; social science is like the eyes, without which we will be lost and step on a wrong way. They should help and facilitate but not reject each other. Actually, mainly concerned with the study of human beings, and their relationship, social sciences and the humanities can greatly advocate the development of economy, by creating a harmonious and peaceful environment. The reason of the problems in the society today just lies in the neglecting of the development of social sciences and the humanities.
   As the masters of the new century, and with the duty of developing our society on our shoulders, we must pay enough emphasis on the development of social sciences and the humanities, if we want the society to develop healthily and to the right direction.
