    China’s current tuition system is coherent with its unique higher-education system since most colleges and universities are established and funded by central and local governments. In the early 1990s, the running of such schools to meet the increasing demands of the public has caused serious financial problems. A series of reforms were thus introduced to improve the condition, echoed by a mixed response. The core of such reform is the charge of fees in public school, with an average from CNY 5,000.00 to 10,000, decided by major and the type of school.
    From a historical perspective, the system has its own merits. At a time when people prefer to save their money rather than buy products or invest, such policy had contributed much in stimulating consumption. Not to mention it relieves the heavy burden taken by the state.
    But time has changed. As the economic situation becomes less prospective, people need to prepare much more than ever before. The unemployment require more young people to stay in school. Pressing need for stability requires the government to invest more on education.
    Every coin has its two sides, smart people needs to flip it when the time is right. The constitutional documents in China clearly states that the public educational system is absolutely "compulsory", but explained vaguely. Higher education is not traditionally considered part of this system. Increase educational investment would be a good approach to build up the image of the government and improve overall quality of the people by way of enhancing national education.
