      Nowadays, some people hold the opinion that those honest people axe fools whose ways of coping with the outside world cannot work. They believe that only those who stop at nothing to get what one wants can subsist and succeed in our society, which features severe competitions. However, in my opinion, no matter what we do, to be honest is the best policy for all of us. If we stick to the principle of honesty, we will benefit and achieve for sure a lot from it, which will promote us to succeed in the future.
     Honesty can help us win trust and respect from others, which no doubt will do good to us. In university, for example, to students, especially to graduate students, honesty is of great importance and of great value to their academic research or cooperation with their supervisors. It is the core task for graduate students to finish the scientific research effectively under the direction of their supervisors. Yet, the time that supervisors employ to advise their students is quite limited. In this case, students need to do most of the research by themselves. It is well known that there are a variety of approaches to accomplish the research. Therefore, it is up to the students to take it either seriously with honesty or carelessly and just let it go like that. To tell the truth, it requires a good deal of time and patience to do the research honestly. Nevertheless, we will learn a lot from our hard work and will feel fulfilled as well. At the same time, our efforts will be recognized by our supervisors. In this way our honesty will not only bring us improvement in studies, but also will lead to mutual trust and respect between students and supervisors. As a result, supervisors will provide more opportunities to the students who adhere to honesty, and thus the students will certainly gain a lot from it.
     In conclusion, honesty is the best policy for all of us. Whatever we do we must uphold the principle of honesty, because it not only can win trust and respect from others for us, but also bring us more opportunities in the future.
